அசோகம்

போன வருடத்தின் டைரியை புரட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன். பிப்ரவரி 8, 2024, அன்று எழுதிய குறிப்பு கண்ணில் தென்பட்டது. ‘அசோக மரம் பூத்திருக்கிறது’ என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். இன்று வளாக எல்லைகளில் நடப்படும் நெடிய அலங்கார மரத்தைத்தான் அசோகா என்று அழைக்கும் வழக்கம் உள்ளது. நீளமான, நெளிந்த விளிம்புகளுடைய இலைகள் கொண்ட மரம். ஆனால் செவ்வியல் பழமை கொண்ட அசோகமரம் இதுவல்ல.
